Filler Dissolving in Dubai

Not happy with your filler results? Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be safely dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Dr Azra offers filler dissolving in Dubai for patients who need correction, removal, or a fresh start.

What Is Hyaluronidase

Hyaluronidase is a naturally occurring enzyme in the body that breaks down hyaluronic acid. When injected into an area with HA filler, it dissolves the filler — typically within 24–48 hours. It is the standard medical treatment for removing or correcting unwanted filler results.

This is one of the key safety advantages of HA fillers over non-HA alternatives — the ability to fully reverse the treatment if needed. All the dermal filler brands Dr Azra uses (Belotero, Aliaxin, Teosyal) are HA-based and fully reversible.

When Filler Dissolving Is Needed

Aesthetic Reasons

  • Overfilled or unnatural appearance
  • Asymmetry that cannot be corrected with more filler
  • Filler migration from the original placement site
  • Lumps or bumps visible under the skin
  • Patient simply wants filler removed
  • Wanting a fresh start before re-treatment with cheek or lip filler

Medical Reasons (Urgent)

  • Vascular compromise — filler pressing on a blood vessel (rare but serious; requires immediate dissolving)
  • Tyndall effect — bluish colour from filler placed too close to the surface
  • Ongoing inflammatory reaction

Medical complications need urgent assessment. Contact Dr Azra immediately if you notice skin colour changes or increasing pain after filler.

What Can and Cannot Be Dissolved

Can Be Dissolved
Cannot Be Dissolved
  • Radiesse (calcium hydroxylapatite)
  • Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid)
  • PMMA / permanent fillers
  • Silicone

For dermal fillers, Dr Azra uses HA-based products — because reversibility is a key safety factor.

What Happens During Filler Dissolving

1

Assessment

Dr Azra examines the area, checks what type of filler was used, and decides how much hyaluronidase is needed.

2

Injection

Small amounts of hyaluronidase are injected directly into the filler. The process takes 10–15 minutes depending on the area.

3

Dissolving

The enzyme starts working right away. Most filler breaks down within 24 hours. Full results are visible in 48 hours.

4

Review

A follow-up check confirms the filler has fully dissolved. If large volumes were treated, a second session may be needed.

Aftercare and Recovery

Recovery after filler dissolving is straightforward. Some swelling, redness, or tenderness in the treated area is normal and usually settles within 24–48 hours. Bruising is possible but typically mild.

For the first 24 hours after treatment, avoid touching or pressing the area, heavy exercise, hot baths or saunas, and alcohol. These can increase swelling or interfere with the dissolving process.

The area may look slightly deflated or uneven in the first few days — this is expected as the filler breaks down and tissue settles. Final results are usually clear within one week. If you plan to have new filler placed, Dr Azra typically recommends waiting 2–4 weeks to let the tissue fully recover. See the full filler aftercare guide for more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions

It begins right away. Most patients see a clear reduction within 24 hours and the full effect within 48 hours. Large volumes may need a second session.

There is a brief stinging feeling during injection, similar to the filler procedure itself. The area may swell for a short time. Any discomfort is mild and passes quickly.

Yes. Dr Azra typically recommends waiting 2–4 weeks after dissolving before placing new filler. This allows the enzyme to fully clear and tissue to recover. See also: how long do fillers last and filler aftercare guide →

Hyaluronidase mainly targets the cross-linked HA in filler. It may briefly affect some natural HA in the treated spot, but your body replaces natural HA quickly. The effect is short-lived and stays in the treated area only.

Yes — if it’s HA-based filler. Dr Azra regularly treats patients who had filler placed elsewhere and are unhappy with the result. Knowing the brand helps but isn’t essential — hyaluronidase dissolves all HA fillers.

Most cases need just one session. If a large amount of filler was placed, or if it has been building up over several years, a second session 1–2 weeks later may be needed to fully clear the area.
