This guide covers recovery only. The treatment itself — in brief, from the Exosome Hair Treatment page:

Procedure
About 30 minutes: after numbing, a microneedling device creates micro-channels in the scalp, then the concentrated exosome solution is applied
Course
3 sessions, typically a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance to sustain the result
Results
Mild scalp redness or a warm, tingling feeling for a day or two; reduced shedding tends to appear first, with density and hair quality improving over the following months (early change at 6–12 weeks)
Options
Suits early-to-moderate hair thinning; often combined with Hair Filler or PRP

— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

Exosome hair treatment is delivered as a series of fine micro-injections into the scalp, so the goal before your appointment is a clean, calm scalp and blood that clots normally. A few small adjustments in the 24 hours beforehand keep bruising and tenderness to a minimum.

Do

  • Wash your hair the morning of your appointment so the scalp is clean and product-free.
  • Eat a normal meal and stay well hydrated before you arrive.
  • Tell Dr Azra about any medications, supplements or scalp conditions at your consultation.
  • Come with dry, loose hair and no gel, wax, dry shampoo or heavy oils on the scalp.

  • Plan a low-key day — you can return to work straight after, but avoid the gym.

Avoid before

  • Blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen and fish-oil supplements for 24 hours (unless prescribed).
  • Alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it thins the blood and increases bruising.
  • Vigorous scalp scrubbing, scratching or exfoliation right before your session.
  • Colouring, bleaching or chemical treatments on the same day.

  • Arriving with an active scalp infection, sunburn or open irritation — let us know so we can reschedule.

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

The first 24 hours

24h

Do not wash your hair or apply any products for 12–24 hours so the exosomes stay in the scalp undisturbed.

Mild redness, tiny pinpoint bumps or slight tenderness where the injections were placed are completely normal and settle within hours. Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating for 24 hours. Can I wash my hair after exosome treatment? Not for the first 12–24 hours — after that, a mild shampoo and lukewarm water are fine.

Days 1 to 7

1–7

From the day after treatment you can gently wash your hair with a mild, sulphate-free shampoo.

Skip swimming pools, sauna and steam rooms for 48 hours, and go easy on heat styling — keep straighteners, tight ties and harsh products to a minimum. Protect your scalp from direct sun with a hat when outdoors in Dubai.

Weeks 2 to 4

2–4

The scalp feels completely normal and you can return to your usual routine, colouring and styling.

Behind the scenes, the growth factors are stimulating the hair follicles and improving the scalp environment. Shedding of weaker hairs during this phase is expected and makes room for stronger regrowth.

Month 3 and beyond

3+

Most people begin to notice reduced shedding, finer baby hairs and improved density from around 8–12 weeks.

DetailsShow less

A course of sessions is needed for visible growth — typically three to four treatments spaced a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance. Dr Azra will map out your plan and can combine it with other hair treatments where helpful.

— The First Three Months

Shedding, Sun and the Weeks in Between

The first two days decide how comfortable your scalp feels. The three months that follow decide what you actually see in the mirror. These are the three things patients ask about most once the injection points have settled.

Why shedding is a normal sign

In the first few weeks after a session you may see more hairs than usual in the brush or the shower drain.

Read moreShow less

This is expected. Regenerative scalp treatments nudge resting follicles back towards their growth phase, and a follicle cannot start a new hair until the older, weaker one is released.

Shedding at this stage means the cycle is moving, not that the treatment has failed. It usually settles within a few weeks and is followed by finer new hairs coming through along the hairline and parting.

Sun, sweat and Dubai heat

The climate here is the main practical challenge in the first 48 hours, because heat, strong sun and sweat all irritate fresh injection points.

Keep the scalp out of direct sun and choose a loose hat or a parasol rather than a tight cap, which presses on tender areas.

Leave the gym, hot yoga and long outdoor walks for 24 hours, and pools, the sea, sauna and steam rooms for 48. When you do resume washing, use lukewarm rather than hot water for the first few days.

Looking after the weeks in between

Aftercare does not stop when the scalp feels normal again.

Exosome hair treatment works as a course, so the single most useful thing you can do for your result is attend every session on schedule rather than spacing them out.

In between, treat the scalp kindly: a gentle sulphate-free shampoo, no tight ponytails, braids or extensions pulling at the roots, and no hard brushing while the hair is wet. Sleep, hydration and treating any underlying scalp condition all support follicle activity — mention anything new to Dr Azra at your next visit.

When to contact the clinic. Redness, mild swelling, pinpoint scabs and a little tenderness after exosome scalp injections are normal and fade within a day or two. However, please contact us promptly if you notice spreading warmth or redness, increasing pain, pus or discharge, fever, or any sign of an allergic reaction such as facial swelling or difficulty breathing (seek emergency care immediately for the latter). Dr Azra reviews every concern personally — message the clinic on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793 and we will guide you.

— Common Questions

Exosome Hair Treatment Aftercare FAQ

How soon can I wash my hair after exosome hair treatment?

Wait 12–24 hours before washing your hair or applying any products, so the exosomes stay in the scalp and are not rinsed away. After that, wash gently with a mild, sulphate-free shampoo and lukewarm water. You can find full details on the exosome hair treatment page or ask us directly.

When can I exercise, swim or use the sauna again?

Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for 24 hours, and skip swimming pools, the sea, sauna and steam rooms for 48 hours. Sweat and chlorine can irritate the fresh injection sites, so give the scalp a short rest before resuming your usual activities in Dubai’s heat.

Is redness, tenderness or shedding normal afterwards?

Yes. Mild redness, tiny pinpoint bumps and slight tenderness are normal and settle within hours to a day. A phase of shedding in the first few weeks is also expected — it clears out weaker hairs so stronger regrowth can follow. Contact the clinic only if you notice spreading redness, worsening pain, pus or fever.

How many sessions do I need to see results?

A course of sessions is needed for visible growth — usually three to four treatments a few weeks apart, then maintenance. Most people notice reduced shedding and improved density from around 8–12 weeks. See current packages on the price list and Dr Azra will tailor a plan at your consultation.

Can exosome hair treatment be combined with other treatments?

Often, yes. Exosomes pair well with other scalp-injection approaches and can be part of a wider plan — for example alongside hair filler or another hair treatment. The same exosome technology can also support the skin; ask about exosome skin treatment if you are interested.
