Stem Cell Facial — Before & After Care
A stem cell facial is a regenerative micro-injection treatment that delivers growth factors, exosomes, polynucleotides and stem-cell-derived actives into the skin to stimulate collagen, hydration and cellular repair. Following these before-and-after care steps from Dr Azra Vaziri helps your skin heal cleanly and lets the regenerative results build to their full potential.
How to Prepare (Before Care)
A little preparation makes your session smoother and reduces the chance of bruising. Because the stem cell facial works with your own healing response, arriving well-hydrated and skin-calm gives the regenerative actives the best environment to work in. Read our full stem cell facial overview before your appointment.
- Hydrate well for 1–2 days before — drink plenty of water so your skin is plump and injections settle smoothly.
- Come with a clean, make-up-free face if possible; we will cleanse and prep the area regardless.
- Eat a light meal beforehand to keep you comfortable during the micro-injections.
- Tell Dr Azra about any medications, supplements, allergies or recent aesthetic treatments.
- Plan the session at least 2 weeks before a big event so any minor pinpoint marks fully settle.
- No blood thinners — aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E or ginkgo — for 24–48h (unless prescribed).
- No alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it thins the blood and increases bruising.
- Do not book if you have an active skin infection, breakout in the area, or an active cold sore.
- Avoid strong actives (retinol, AHA/BHA, high-strength vitamin C) for 2–3 days before.
- Skip other injectables, facials, peels or laser in the same area in the days just before.
After Your Treatment — Day by Day
Downtime after a stem cell facial is minimal. Most people notice small pinpoint marks and mild redness that fade quickly, while the deeper regenerative benefits unfold over several weeks. Here is what to expect.
First 24 hours — calm & hands-off
Expect mild redness, slight swelling and tiny injection points that may feel a little tender. Leave the injection sites completely alone, keep the skin bare with no make-up for 12–24 hours, and use only a gentle cleanser and light moisturiser. Sleep slightly elevated on your back if the face feels puffy.
Days 1–7 — settling & protecting
Redness and pinpoint marks usually resolve within a few days; occasional light bruising can take up to a week. Keep skincare gentle, apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning, and avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam and hot showers for the first 24–48h. Hold off on retinol, AHAs and vitamin C for 48 hours.
Weeks 2–4 — the glow appears
As growth factors and polynucleotides stimulate your skin, you should see improved hydration, a smoother texture and a fresher, more luminous tone. This is the regenerative phase — collagen remodelling is underway beneath the surface. Resume your normal actives once the skin feels fully settled.
Week 6 and beyond — building results
Peak collagen and firmness build over 6–12 weeks. A stem cell facial is usually done as a short course — commonly 3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart — for cumulative, longer-lasting rejuvenation. Dr Azra will recommend a maintenance rhythm at your review.
Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts
Simple habits in the first week protect your investment and help the regenerative actives do their work. If you also had an exosome or PRP skin treatment in the same visit, the same aftercare applies.
- Leave the injection points untouched — do not rub, massage or pick at them.
- Keep skin make-up-free for 12–24 hours, then apply gently with clean tools.
- Cleanse with a mild, non-active cleanser and use a light, fragrance-free moisturiser.
- Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every morning to protect fresh, active skin.
- Drink plenty of water — hydration supports the skin’s repair response.
- Sleep on your back the first night if there is any swelling.
- No strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms or very hot showers for 24–48 hours.
- No retinol, AHA/BHA or vitamin C for 48 hours — they can irritate settling skin.
- No facials, peels, microneedling or laser in the area for about 1 week.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours as it can worsen swelling and bruising.
- No direct sun, tanning beds or heavy sweating while the skin is recovering.
- Do not massage or use pressure devices on the treated area for several days.
