— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

Do

  • Come to your appointment well hydrated and, ideally, with a light meal beforehand to keep you comfortable during treatment.
  • Tell Dr Azra about any medications, supplements, allergies or previous dermal filler treatments so your plan is tailored to you.
  • Arrive with clean, make-up-free skin where possible so the injection area can be prepped and mapped easily.

  • Plan your date thoughtfully — avoid scheduling FillMed filler within two weeks of a wedding, holiday or big event in case of minor bruising.
  • Book at least 2–3 weeks clear of any planned dental work, as procedures near the mouth can affect settling filler.

Avoid before

  • Blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E for 24 hours before, unless prescribed by your doctor.
  • Alcohol for at least 24 hours prior, as it thins the blood and increases the chance of bruising.
  • Booking dental cleanings, extractions or other dental work around your treatment date.

  • Active skincare (retinol, acids, strong exfoliants) on the treatment area for a day or two beforehand.
  • Intense exercise or a hot sauna session immediately before your appointment.

However, please contact us promptly if you notice increasing or one-sided pain, skin that turns pale, dusky, blotchy or white (blanching), a spreading warmth or fever, signs of infection, or any sudden change in vision. These are rare but need quick review. You can reach Dr Azra’s team any time on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793.

  • Touching, pressing or massaging the area unless Dr Azra specifically advises it.
  • Strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms, hot yoga and direct heat for 24–48 hours.
  • Facials, laser, peels and dental work for around 2 weeks after treatment.
  • Alcohol and blood-thinning medicines for the first 24 hours, as they worsen bruising.
  • Sleeping face-down or wearing tight helmets or goggles that press on the area early on.
  • Booking flights or big events in the first few days if you are prone to swelling.

— Common Questions

FillMed Filler Aftercare FAQ

How long is the recovery after FillMed filler?

There is very little downtime. Most people head straight back to their day, with any mild swelling or bruising usually settling within a few days to a week. The filler fully integrates and softens over the following 1–2 weeks. If you would like to plan around an event, our consultation team can help you time it.

When can I exercise or go to the gym again?

Please avoid strenuous exercise, hot yoga, sauna and steam rooms for 24–48 hours, as heat and raised blood pressure can increase swelling and bruising. Gentle walking is fine straight away, and you can resume your normal routine once any initial puffiness has settled.

Can I wear make-up and wash my face afterwards?

You can cleanse gently the same evening and apply light make-up from the next day, taking care not to rub or press the treated area. Avoid facials, exfoliating treatments and firm massage for around two weeks. A daily SPF is your best friend for protecting the result — see our full range of dermal filler options for more advice.

When will I see the final result?

FillMed filler gives an immediate improvement you will notice right away. Because there is often a little swelling at first, the truly natural, settled result appears over 1–2 weeks. If any area needs a small refinement, this is the ideal time for a review with Dr Azra. You can also compare treatments like cheek filler if you are considering more than one area.

Is some swelling and bruising normal — and how much does it cost?

Yes — mild swelling, tenderness and small bruises are a normal part of healing and usually fade within a week. Sleeping slightly elevated the first night and avoiding heat and alcohol both help. For pricing, see our dermal filler prices or the full price list, and reach out any time if you have concerns.
