The short version
Profhilo Aftercare — Day by Day
How you look after your skin in the days after a Profhilo session decides how smoothly it settles. This day-by-day guide from Dr Azra Vaziri covers the bumps, what to avoid, when you can go back to normal, and when your next session is due.
- The injection bumps are expected and settle within hours to about two days.
- No make-up for 12–24 hours; no gym, sauna or hot showers for 24–48 hours.
- Leave facials, peels, microneedling and laser for one to two weeks.
- Your second session is due four weeks after the first.

This guide covers recovery only. The treatment itself — in brief, from the Profhilo Treatment in Dubai page:

— Before Your Treatment
How to Prepare (Before Care)
Profhilo is an injectable hyaluronic-acid and amino-acid skin booster, so a little preparation helps minimise bruising and keeps the tiny injection-point bumps to a minimum. A few simple steps in the 24 hours before your appointment make a real difference. If you are still deciding on treatment, our skin booster overview explains how Profhilo compares to other options.
Not sure whether a medication, a supplement or a recent treatment affects your session? Ask us before you book — it takes a minute and saves a wasted appointment.
Do
- Arrive with clean, bare skin — remove make-up, SPF and heavy moisturiser before your appointment.
- Stay well hydrated in the days beforehand; Profhilo works with your skin’s own water content.
- Tell Dr Azra about all medications and supplements, any past cold sores, and previous filler or skin-booster treatments.

- Eat a light meal before you come so you feel comfortable during the injections.
- Plan the timing — ideally avoid a big event in the first 2–3 days in case of minor redness or bumps.
Avoid before
- Blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E for about 24 hours (unless prescribed — never stop prescribed medication without your doctor).
- Alcohol for at least 24 hours beforehand, as it increases bruising and swelling.
- Active skincare (retinol, AHAs/BHAs, strong vitamin C) for 1–2 days before to calm the skin.

- Facials, waxing, peels or laser on the treatment area in the days leading up to your session.
- Booking on a day when you are unwell or have an active skin infection or breakout at the injection sites.

After Your Treatment — Day by Day
First 24 hours — the little bumps
24hProfhilo is placed as small deposits, so you will usually see and feel tiny raised bumps or papules at each injection point, along with some mild redness or swelling.

This is completely normal — the product is designed to spread and settle. Leave the bumps alone, keep make-up off for 12–24 hours, and apply a cool compress lightly if you feel puffy.
Day 1 to Day 2 — bumps settle
1–2For most people the bumps flatten and reabsorb within a few hours to around two days as the hyaluronic acid disperses evenly through the skin.

Any bruising, if it appears, is usually small. Stick to gentle, hydrating skincare and daily SPF, and resist the urge to touch or massage the area.
Days 3 to 7 — back to normal
3–7By now the injection points have calmed and you can return to your normal skincare and light routines.

— skin looks more hydrated, firmer and more even as it stimulates collagen and elastin. A course is two sessions spaced about four weeks apart, and the results from that course typically last around six to nine months. Most patients then keep their skin topped up with a single maintenance session every six months.

— Do & Don’t
Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts
Do
- Leave the injection bumps and any swelling alone — they settle on their own within hours to a couple of days.
- Keep the skin bare for 12–24 hours, then use only gentle, hydrating skincare.
- Apply a broad-spectrum SPF every day — sun protection is especially important in Dubai’s climate.

- Sleep on your back for the first night or two if you can, to avoid pressing on the treated area.
- Drink plenty of water — hydration supports how Profhilo works in the skin.
- Attend your follow-up sessions on schedule to complete the recommended course.
Avoid after

When to contact the clinic. Small bumps, mild redness, tenderness and slight swelling after Profhilo are completely normal and settle within hours to a couple of days — there is no need to worry about these. However, please contact us promptly if you notice increasing or spreading pain, significant or one-sided swelling, skin that turns pale, dusky or blotchy, blistering, a fever, or any sign of infection such as warmth and pus at an injection site. These are uncommon but should always be checked. Dr Azra and the team are here for you — message us any time on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793.
- Touching, rubbing or massaging the injection points, which can displace the product.
- Make-up for 12–24 hours to let the skin recover cleanly.
- Strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and hot showers for 24–48 hours.
- Facials, chemical peels, microneedling and laser treatments for about 1–2 weeks.
- Alcohol and blood thinners for the first 24 hours to limit swelling and bruising.
- Extreme heat and direct, prolonged sun exposure while the skin is settling.
— Between Sessions
Making the Weeks Between Sessions Count
Aftercare does not stop when the bumps settle. Profhilo works by stimulating your own collagen and elastin over the following weeks, so what you do between your two sessions matters as much as what you do in the first forty-eight hours.
Protect it from the sun
Ultraviolet exposure breaks down hyaluronic acid and works directly against the collagen response you have just paid for. A broad-spectrum SPF every morning, reapplied through the day, is the single most useful habit in a Dubai climate.
Stay hydrated
Profhilo draws on the water already in your skin, so results read better when you are well hydrated. Keep drinking through the day and use a simple humectant moisturiser rather than anything active or exfoliating.
Do not stack treatments
Leave one to two weeks clear of peels, microneedling, laser and facials so the product integrates undisturbed. If you have another treatment planned, tell Dr Azra so the timing works around your course rather than against it.
Your second session is due four weeks after the first, and results from that two-session course typically last around six to nine months. After that, a single maintenance session every six months keeps the effect going. Book the follow-up before you leave the clinic so the four-week gap does not slip — or contact the clinic and we will schedule it for you.
— Common Questions
Profhilo Aftercare FAQ
Are the little bumps after Profhilo normal?
Yes — they are expected. Profhilo is deposited as small droplets under the skin, so you will usually see tiny raised bumps or papules at each injection point right after treatment. They are a sign the product has been placed correctly and typically flatten and reabsorb within a few hours to around two days. The most important thing is to leave them alone and not massage them, as they settle on their own.
How long is the downtime and when can I go back to normal?
Profhilo has very little true downtime. Any bumps, redness or mild swelling usually settle within a day or two, and most people feel completely normal within a few days. Just keep make-up off for 12–24 hours and avoid heat and heavy exercise for 24–48 hours. You can learn more about the treatment itself on our Profhilo Dubai page.
When can I exercise, use the sauna or take a hot shower again?
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and very hot showers for 24–48 hours after your session. Heat and increased blood flow can worsen swelling and redness while the skin is settling. After that, you can gradually return to your usual routine.
When can I wear make-up and wash my face?
You can gently cleanse your face the same evening with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, but hold off on make-up for 12–24 hours so the injection points can recover cleanly. When you do resume, apply products softly without rubbing or massaging the treated area, and use gentle, hydrating skincare with a daily SPF.
When will I see results and how many sessions do I need?
Profhilo results build gradually, with visible improvement in hydration, firmness and skin quality over about 3–4 weeks as it stimulates your own collagen and elastin. A course is two sessions spaced roughly four weeks apart, then a single maintenance session every six months. Results from the two-session course typically last around six to nine months. You can see current pricing on our Profhilo price page and the full price list, or ask us about Profhilo Structura for firmer, more structural areas.
