Body Thread Lift — Before & After Care

A body thread lift gently lifts and tightens loose skin on the abdomen, arms, thighs or buttocks using dissolvable PDO threads — and the right pre- and post-care is what protects that lift while your tissue settles. This guide walks you through exactly what to do before and after your appointment with Dr Azra Vaziri so your results look smooth, natural and long-lasting.
— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

✓ Do
  • Attend your consultation with Dr Azra so the treatment area, thread type and expected lift are mapped out — see the price list beforehand if it helps you plan.
  • Eat a normal meal and stay well hydrated on the day; being comfortable makes the placement smoother.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that will not press or rub against the treated area afterwards.
  • Tell us about all medications and supplements you take, and any tendency to bruise or bleed, so we can plan safely.
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin over the treatment area — no heavy lotions, oils or self-tan on the day.
✗ Avoid before
  • Blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen and fish-oil, plus alcohol, for 5–7 days before — but only stop prescribed medication with your doctor’s guidance.
  • Booking if you have any active skin infection, open wound or rash over the intended area — this must be fully settled first.
  • Alcohol the night before, as it thins the blood and increases bruising and swelling.
  • Vigorous exercise or intense heat exposure in the 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Scheduling near a major event — allow room for mild swelling or bruising to fade.

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

24h

First 24 hours

Expect mild swelling, tightness and possibly some bruising at the entry points — this is completely normal for a body thread lift. Keep the area clean and dry, sleep in a position that avoids direct pressure on the treated zone, and do not massage or rub it.

1–7

Days 1 to 7

Tightness and a pulling sensation are common as the threads anchor and your tissue adjusts, especially with movement. Bruising begins to fade. Continue to avoid pressing the area, sleep on your back where possible, and keep clothing loose over the region.

2–4

Weeks 2 to 4

Swelling largely settles and the lift becomes more visible and natural-looking. You can gradually ease back into gentle activity, but continue to avoid deep massage, sauna and steam over the treated area until cleared.

6+

Week 6 and beyond

Your final result settles over 4–6 weeks as the PDO threads stimulate collagen and the skin firms. For a longer-lasting, smoother finish, Dr Azra may recommend pairing threads with a body biostimulator or skin tightening.

— Do & Don’t

Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts

✓ Do
  • Keep the treated area clean and gently pat it dry — no scrubbing.
  • Sleep and rest in positions that keep pressure off the treated zone for the first week.
  • Wear soft, loose clothing so nothing compresses or drags on the skin.
  • Move naturally with everyday walking, but keep it gentle and low-impact at first.
  • Use any soothing or care products exactly as Dr Azra advises.
  • Book your review so we can check the lift and plan any maintenance, such as a complementary face thread lift if desired.
✗ Avoid
  • Massaging, pressing, rubbing or manipulating the treated area — this can shift the threads.
  • Strenuous exercise, gym, heavy lifting and high-impact activity for 1–2 weeks.
  • Sauna, steam rooms, hot baths and intense heat over the area for 1–2 weeks.
  • Very tight or compressive clothing, shapewear or belts over the treated region.
  • Deep-tissue massage or aggressive body scrubs on the area until fully healed.
  • Sleeping directly on the treated side or letting bags and straps rest on it early on.
When to contact the clinic. Mild swelling, bruising, tightness and a pulling sensation are all normal after a body thread lift and settle over the first few weeks. However, please contact us promptly if you notice increasing redness, warmth or spreading pain around the area, any discharge or signs of infection, a visible thread poking through the skin, persistent dimpling that does not smooth out, or a fever. Dr Azra and the team are here to reassure you — message us any time on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793.

Body Thread Lift Aftercare FAQ

Most people are back to normal daily activities within a day or two. Mild swelling, bruising and tightness settle over the first 1–2 weeks, while the final lift and firming continue to develop as collagen builds — your result typically settles fully over 4–6 weeks. Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna and steam during the first 1–2 weeks to protect the body thread lift.

Gentle walking is fine straight away, but avoid strenuous exercise, gym sessions, heavy lifting and high-impact movement for 1–2 weeks. Early intense activity can pull on the threads before your tissue has anchored, which may affect the smoothness of the result. Dr Azra will confirm at your review when it is safe to fully resume.

Yes, you can shower normally — simply keep the treated area clean, use lukewarm water and gently pat it dry rather than rubbing. Avoid hot baths, sauna, steam and vigorous scrubbing over the area for 1–2 weeks, and do not massage or press the region while it settles.

Body thread lift results generally last around 12–18 months as the threads stimulate your own collagen before dissolving. To enhance and prolong the effect, Dr Azra often pairs threads with a body biostimulator or skin tightening treatment. A personalised plan is discussed at your consultation.

Yes — mild swelling, bruising, tightness and a temporary pulling or tugging sensation are all expected as the threads anchor and support your skin. These ease over the first few weeks. If you notice spreading redness, warmth, increasing pain, discharge or a thread poking through, contact the clinic promptly so we can check it.
