Mesotherapy — Before & After Care

Mesotherapy delivers a tailored cocktail of vitamins, antioxidants and hydrating actives into the skin through a series of tiny micro-injections, so a little care before and after each session makes a real difference to your comfort and results. This guide from Dr Azra Vaziri walks you through exactly what to expect and how to look after your skin at our Dubai clinic.
— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

✓ Do
  • Arrive with clean, bare skin — remove all make-up, SPF and skincare before your appointment so the injection sites are fully clean.
  • Stay well hydrated in the days before your session to help your skin respond to the mesotherapy cocktail.
  • Tell Dr Azra about any medications, supplements, allergies or recent facial treatments during your consultation.
  • Eat a light meal beforehand so you feel comfortable throughout the micro-injections.
  • Plan the timing — a course of sessions is recommended, so book your appointment when you have a quiet 24 hours afterwards.
✗ Avoid before
  • Blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E for 24 hours (unless prescribed — never stop prescribed medication without your doctor).
  • Alcohol for at least 24 hours before, as it thins the blood and increases bruising.
  • Strong active skincare (retinol, glycolic or salicylic acids, vitamin C) on the treatment area for a couple of days prior.
  • Waxing, threading or harsh exfoliation on the area to be treated.
  • Booking around a big event — leave a few days in case of tiny bumps or mild redness.
— Recovery Timeline

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

24h

First 24 hours — tiny bumps & mild redness

It is completely normal to see small raised bumps and a little redness where the mesotherapy was injected — this is the cocktail sitting just under the skin and it settles quickly. Leave the skin bare, don’t rub or massage the area, and skip make-up for 12–24 hours. Avoid exercise, sauna, steam and heat for the first 24 hours.

1–7

Days 1 to 7 — skin calms & brightens

The bumps flatten within a day or so and any redness fades. You may notice a fresher, more hydrated glow as the actives get to work. Keep skincare gentle, hold off on strong actives until 48 hours have passed, and apply a daily SPF whenever you go outside in Dubai’s strong sun.

2–4

Weeks 2 to 4 — visible glow builds

Skin quality, hydration and radiance continue to improve as the nutrients stimulate your skin from within. This is usually when you and Dr Azra schedule your next session, as mesotherapy works best as a course spaced a few weeks apart.

6+

6 weeks & beyond — maintenance

After completing your recommended course, results are cumulative and longer-lasting. Periodic top-up sessions keep the glow going. Ask about pairing mesotherapy with a skin booster or NCTF for a fuller skin-quality plan.

— Do & Don’t

Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts

✓ Do
  • Let the tiny bumps and mild redness settle on their own — they usually resolve within a day.
  • Keep the treated skin clean and let it breathe; from 24 hours you can gently cleanse with a mild, fragrance-free wash.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50 every day to protect the freshly treated skin.
  • Drink plenty of water and rest — hydration supports the results.
  • Sleep on your back the first night if your face was treated, to avoid pressing on the area.
  • Complete your full recommended course of sessions for the best, longest-lasting glow.
✗ Avoid after
  • No make-up for 12–24 hours so the injection sites stay clean and undisturbed.
  • Don’t rub, scratch, massage or pick at the treated area.
  • Avoid exercise, sauna, steam room, hot showers and direct heat for 24 hours.
  • No active skincare (retinol, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C, scrubs) for 48 hours.
  • Skip alcohol for 24 hours as it can worsen swelling and bruising.
  • Avoid direct sun, tanning beds and facials/peels for a few days after your session.
When to contact the clinic. Small bumps, mild redness, slight tenderness and pinpoint marks are all normal after mesotherapy and settle within a day or two — there is no need to worry. However, please get in touch promptly if you notice increasing swelling or spreading redness after 48 hours, warmth, pus or signs of infection, a fever, severe or worsening pain, or any blistering or discolouration at an injection site. Dr Azra and the team are always here to reassure you — message us on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793.
— Common Questions

Mesotherapy Aftercare FAQ

Downtime is minimal. Most people have tiny bumps and a little mild redness at the injection points for the first few hours to a day, then get straight back to normal life. Just avoid make-up for 12–24 hours and skip exercise, sauna and heat for the first 24 hours so the skin can settle comfortably.

Yes — this is completely expected. The tiny raised bumps are simply the vitamin cocktail sitting just under the skin, and the mild redness is your skin’s natural response to the micro-injections. Both usually flatten and fade within a day. Please don’t rub or massage the area to speed it up; let it resolve on its own.

Wait at least 24 hours before exercise, the gym, sauna, steam room or hot showers. Heat and sweating can irritate the freshly treated skin and increase redness. After the first day you can return to your usual routine.

Leave the skin make-up-free for 12–24 hours after your session. From 24 hours you can gently cleanse and use mild, fragrance-free products, but hold off on strong actives such as retinol, glycolic/salicylic acids and vitamin C for 48 hours. A daily SPF is a must every day, especially in Dubai’s strong sun.

Mesotherapy works best as a course — typically a few sessions spaced a couple of weeks apart, followed by maintenance. You may notice a fresher glow within days, with skin quality and hydration building over the following weeks. Dr Azra will tailor the plan at your consultation, and you can compare options like PRP skin treatment on our price list.
