PRP (Vampire Facial) — Before & After Care

The PRP (Vampire Facial) harnesses growth factors from your own blood to stimulate collagen, refine texture and restore a natural glow — but the way you care for your skin around the treatment strongly influences the result. Follow the steps below, and reach out to Dr Azra Vaziri any time if you are unsure about anything during your recovery.
— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

Because PRP works with your own platelet-rich plasma, the quality of your blood on the day matters. A little preparation improves platelet yield, reduces bruising and helps the growth factors do their work. If you are combining PRP with exosome therapy, the same preparation applies.
✓ Do
  • Hydrate well — drink plenty of water for 24–48 hours before, as well-hydrated blood yields richer plasma.
  • Eat a normal meal before your appointment to keep blood sugar stable during the draw.
  • Arrive with clean skin, free of make-up, heavy serums or SPF where possible.
  • Tell Dr Azra about all medications, supplements and any history of cold sores.
  • Get a good night’s sleep and plan a calm day — relaxed circulation makes the blood draw easier.
✗ Avoid before
  • Blood thinners — aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E and high-dose omega for 24–48 hours (unless prescribed).
  • Alcohol for at least 24 hours, as it thins the blood and increases bruising.
  • Booking if you have an active infection, breakout or a cold sore in the treatment area.
  • Anti-inflammatory painkillers on the day — they can blunt the healing response PRP relies on.
  • Sunburn or aggressive exfoliation in the days beforehand.

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

24h

The first day

Tiny injection points, mild redness, warmth and a little swelling are completely normal — think of it as a healthy inflammatory glow. Leave the skin alone: no make-up for 12–24 hours, no touching or rubbing the injection points, and avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam and hot showers. Cleanse gently with lukewarm water only.

1–7

Days 1 to 7

Any pinpoint bruising or bumps settle over the first few days. Keep skincare simple — a gentle cleanser, bland moisturiser and daily SPF. Avoid retinol, AHAs and vitamin C for 48 hours, and hold off on facials, laser, microneedling and peels for about a week so the skin can heal undisturbed.

2–4

Weeks 2 to 4

This is when the real work happens beneath the surface. Growth factors trigger fresh collagen, so texture refines, pores look tighter and skin tone becomes more even. You can resume your full active skincare routine and enjoy your natural glow building steadily.

6+

Week 6 and beyond

Results continue to develop for up to three months. Because PRP is regenerative, a course of sessions gives the most lasting improvement — Dr Azra usually recommends a short series spaced a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance. See PRP pricing for course options.

— Do & Don’t

Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts

✓ Do
  • Leave the injection points alone — let them close naturally without picking or massaging.
  • Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and pat, never rub, the skin dry.
  • Keep skin well moisturised with a bland, fragrance-free cream.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning once make-up is allowed again.
  • Sleep slightly elevated on the first night if you feel puffy.
  • Drink plenty of water and let the treated area breathe.
✗ Avoid after
  • Make-up for 12–24 hours to keep the injection points clean.
  • Strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms and hot showers for 24–48 hours.
  • Retinol, AHAs, BHAs and vitamin C for 48 hours — they irritate freshly treated skin.
  • Facials, laser, microneedling, peels and threads for about one week.
  • Direct sun and tanning beds; wear a hat and reapply SPF outdoors.
  • Alcohol and blood thinners for 24 hours to limit bruising.
When to contact the clinic. Mild redness, warmth, pinpoint bruising and slight swelling are expected after PRP and settle within a few days — this is your skin’s natural healing response. However, contact us promptly if you notice spreading redness, increasing pain, pus or a tender warm lump, fever, or the tingling of a developing cold sore, as these are uncommon and easily managed when caught early. Dr Azra and the team are always happy to reassure you — message us on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793 and we will guide you through the next step.

PRP (Vampire Facial) Aftercare FAQ

Downtime is minimal. Most people have mild redness and a warm, flushed look for the first 12–24 hours, sometimes with tiny pinpoint bruising that settles within a few days. You can usually return to work or normal activities the same or next day — just skip make-up, exercise and heat for the first day or two. Explore the full Vampire Facial treatment page for more detail.

Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms and hot showers for 24–48 hours. Heat and heavy sweating increase blood flow and redness and can introduce bacteria to the fresh injection points, so give your skin a short rest before returning to the gym or spa.

You can cleanse gently with lukewarm water and your fingertips a few hours after treatment — avoid scrubbing, cleansing brushes and hot water. Leave make-up off for 12–24 hours so the injection points can close cleanly, then reintroduce a mineral SPF and light make-up over freshly cleansed skin.

You may notice an early glow within a week, but PRP is regenerative, so the real improvement in texture, tone and firmness builds over 2–12 weeks as new collagen forms. Because it works gradually, a course of around three sessions spaced a few weeks apart usually gives the best, longest-lasting result, with maintenance thereafter. See PRP pricing or the full price list for course options.

Yes. Small raised bumps at the injection points and occasional pinpoint bruising are normal and usually fade within a few hours to a few days. Do not massage or pick at them — they smooth out on their own. If anything feels unusual, message the clinic or book a review and we will check it for you.
