Medical Facial — Before & After Care

A medical facial is non-invasive with minimal downtime, so most people head straight back to their day — a little pre- and post-care simply helps your skin glow at its best. Here is how to prepare, what to expect in the hours after, and when to reach Dr Azra Vaziri.

— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

✓ Do — 2–3 days before
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin — remove make-up and SPF before your appointment
  • Keep skin well hydrated and drink plenty of water in the days before
  • Tell Dr Azra about your current routine, any prescription creams and recent facials or peels
  • Let us know your skin goals so the facial can be tailored (hydration, congestion, glow, pigmentation)
  • Time it for maximum radiance — many book 1–3 days before an event
✗ Avoid before
  • Retinoids, retinol and prescription vitamin A for 2–3 days beforehand
  • AHA/BHA acids and any manual or grainy exfoliants for 2–3 days
  • Waxing, threading or hair removal on the treatment area for a few days
  • Strong sun exposure, tanning beds or sunburn on the face
  • Booking if you have an active cold sore or broken, inflamed skin — reschedule with us instead

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

4h

First few hours

Skin may look slightly pink or feel warm — this is normal after deep cleansing and settles within a few hours. Skip make-up for the rest of the day so pores can breathe, and enjoy the immediate hydrated, luminous finish.

24h

First 24 hours

Keep it simple with a gentle cleanser and a hydrating moisturiser. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and heavy sweating for 24 hours, and apply a broad-spectrum SPF before going outdoors — your fresh skin is more sensitive to UV.

24–48h

24–48 hours

Hold off on retinol, AHA/BHA acids, vitamin C in high strengths and any exfoliation or scrubs. Stick to soothing, hydrating products so the skin barrier stays calm and the glow lasts longer.

Series

Ongoing & best in a series

Results are visible straight away, but a course every 4–6 weeks delivers the most noticeable improvement in texture, congestion and radiance. Dr Azra can pair your facials with a glowing skin plan for lasting results.

Medical Facial Aftercare FAQ

There is essentially no downtime. Skin may look slightly pink or feel warm for a few hours, then settles to a hydrated, radiant finish. A HydraFacial is one of the most popular no-downtime options and you can usually return to normal activities straight away.

Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and heavy sweating for about 24 hours, as heat and perspiration can irritate freshly treated skin. Gentle activity is fine the same day.

Skip make-up for the first few hours so your pores stay clear. You can cleanse gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser that evening, then follow with a hydrating moisturiser.

Pause retinol, AHA/BHA acids and exfoliation for 24–48 hours so your skin barrier stays calm. Reintroduce them gradually afterwards, and always apply a daily SPF while your skin is fresh.

You will notice a glow immediately, but medical facials work best in a series — typically every 4–6 weeks — for lasting improvement in texture, hydration and clarity. See our price list or book a consultation to plan your course with Dr Azra.
