Hair Treatment — Before & After Care

Scalp injection treatments such as PRP, mesotherapy, exosomes and hair treatment in Dubai work by delivering growth factors directly to your follicles — and how you care for your scalp in the first 48 hours meaningfully affects your comfort and results. Follow this simple before-and-after guide from Dr Azra Vaziri to protect the injected area and give your hair the best possible environment to regrow.
— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

✓ Do
  • Arrive with clean, freshly washed hair — wash it on the day of your appointment so the scalp is free of oil, dust and product build-up.
  • Eat a normal meal and stay well hydrated beforehand so you feel comfortable during the scalp injections.
  • Tell Dr Azra about any medications, supplements, scalp conditions or a history of easy bruising at your consultation.
  • Plan a course of sessions — visible regrowth needs several treatments spaced a few weeks apart, not a single visit.
  • Come with your hair loose and untied so the scalp is easy to access.
✗ Avoid before
  • Blood thinners such as aspirin and ibuprofen for 24 hours (unless prescribed) — they increase bruising and bleeding at injection points.
  • Alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, as it thins the blood and can worsen swelling.
  • Heavy styling products, oils, wax or dry shampoo on the day — a clean scalp is easier and safer to inject.
  • Vigorous exercise immediately before your appointment.
  • Booking on a day you have important plans straight after, in case of minor redness or tenderness.

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

24h

The first 12–24 hours

Leave your scalp alone. Do not wash your hair or apply any products, shampoo, oils or styling agents for at least 12–24 hours so the injected growth factors are not rinsed away. Mild tenderness, tiny bumps or pinpoint redness at the injection sites are completely normal and settle quickly.

1–7

Days 1 to 7

You can resume gentle hair washing after the first day using a mild, sulphate-free shampoo and lukewarm water — no vigorous scrubbing. Avoid heat styling, tight ponytails and harsh chemical treatments for a few days while the scalp recovers. Any minor bruising or tenderness fades over this week.

2–4

Weeks 2 to 4

The scalp feels completely normal and there is nothing to see externally, but your follicles are being stimulated beneath the surface. It is common (and temporary) to notice a little extra shedding early on as weaker hairs make way for stronger regrowth. Attend your next scheduled session on time to keep the course on track.

3–6

Months 3 to 6+

This is when visible results appear — reduced shedding first, then finer “baby” hairs, improved density and healthier-looking hair. A full course of sessions is needed for meaningful growth, followed by occasional maintenance to preserve the improvement over time.

— Do & Don’t

Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts

✓ Do
  • Keep the scalp dry and product-free for the first 12–24 hours after your session.
  • Wash gently with a mild, sulphate-free shampoo and lukewarm water once the first day has passed.
  • Protect your scalp from direct sun — use a hat or stay shaded, especially in the Dubai climate.
  • Sleep on a clean pillowcase and handle your hair gently for the first few days.
  • Stay hydrated and eat well to support healthy follicle activity.
  • Complete every session in your recommended course and book maintenance as advised for lasting results. See the price list for session and package options.
✗ Avoid after
  • Washing your hair or applying any products for 12–24 hours after treatment.
  • Strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for 24 hours — sweat can irritate the injection sites.
  • Swimming pools, sauna and steam rooms for 48 hours.
  • Harsh hair products, chemical dyes, keratin treatments and hot styling tools for a few days.
  • Scratching, rubbing or picking at the scalp, even if it feels slightly itchy.
  • Alcohol for the first 24 hours, which can increase swelling and slow recovery.
When to contact the clinic. Scalp injection treatments are very well tolerated, and mild tenderness, tiny bumps, pinpoint redness or a little bruising in the first day or two are completely normal and settle on their own. However, please contact us promptly if you notice spreading redness or warmth, increasing pain rather than improving, pus or discharge from an injection site, a fever, or any swelling that does not begin to settle after 48 hours. Dr Azra and the team are always happy to reassure you — message us on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793.

Hair Treatment Aftercare FAQ

Wait at least 12–24 hours before washing your hair or applying any products. This gives the injected growth factors time to work on the follicles rather than being rinsed away. After the first day, wash gently with a mild, sulphate-free shampoo and lukewarm water — no vigorous scrubbing or hot water for a few more days.

Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy sweating for 24 hours, since sweat can irritate the injection points. Skip swimming pools, sauna and steam rooms for 48 hours to keep the scalp clean and calm. Gentle daily activity and walking are absolutely fine straight away.

Yes. Mild scalp tenderness, tiny bumps and pinpoint redness at the injection sites in the first day or two are completely normal. A short phase of extra shedding in the first few weeks is also common and temporary — it simply means weaker hairs are making way for stronger regrowth. If anything feels excessive or you are worried, message us on WhatsApp.

A course of sessions is needed for visible growth — typically several treatments spaced a few weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. You will usually notice reduced shedding first, then finer new hairs and improved density over 3 to 6 months. Dr Azra will tailor the exact plan — whether that is PRP, exosomes or hair filler — to your hair type and goals.

Give your scalp a short break. Avoid harsh hair products, chemical dyes, keratin treatments and hot styling tools for a few days while the injection points recover, and protect your scalp from direct sun with a hat when outdoors. After that you can return to your normal routine — ask us or explore your options on our hair treatment page.
