Skin Boosters (Face) — Before & After Care

A little care in the first day or two helps your skin boosters (face) treatment settle beautifully and lets the hyaluronic acid hydrate and remodel your skin from within. Follow this simple before & after guide from Dr Azra Vaziri to keep any tiny bumps and redness brief and to get the smoothest, most radiant result.
— Before Your Treatment

How to Prepare (Before Care)

Skin boosters such as Profhilo, Sunekos and NCTF are injected as small deposits of hyaluronic acid and nutrients just under the skin. A tidy pre-treatment routine minimises bruising and helps the injection points calm quickly. See skin booster options in Dubai for a fuller overview.

✓ Do
  • Arrive with clean, bare skin — remove all make-up so injection points stay clean.
  • Tell Dr Azra about every medication and supplement you take, especially blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E and ginkgo.
  • Eat a normal meal and stay well hydrated before your appointment.
  • Mention any history of cold sores, active acne or skin infection so timing can be adjusted.
  • Plan the session at least 1–2 weeks before any event, wedding or holiday to allow bumps and redness to settle.
✗ Avoid before
  • No alcohol for 24 hours beforehand — it thins the blood and increases bruising.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medicines and supplements for 24 hours (only if your GP confirms it is safe to pause them).
  • Skip retinol, acids (AHA/BHA) and scrubs for 2–3 days before to avoid extra sensitivity.
  • No facials, peels, waxing or laser on the treatment area in the days beforehand.
  • Do not book intense sun exposure, sauna or a heavy workout right before your session.

After Your Treatment — Day by Day

24h

First 24 hours — the little bumps

You may see small temporary bumps or papules at each injection point — this is completely normal and expected with skin boosters, and especially with Profhilo, where the product is placed in defined bio-aesthetic points. Most bumps flatten within a few hours and are gone within about 2 days as the hyaluronic acid spreads and absorbs. Expect mild redness, slight swelling or a little tenderness. Leave everything alone — no make-up for 12–24 hours.

1–7

Days 1 to 7 — settling in

Redness and any tiny bruising fade over the first few days. Keep the skin cool and calm: gentle hydrating skincare, plenty of water, and daily SPF. Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms and very hot showers for 24–48 hours, then ease back to normal. Your skin may already feel a little more plump and hydrated.

2–4

Weeks 2 to 4 — the glow builds

The true benefit of a skin booster is gradual. Over 3–4 weeks the hyaluronic acid stimulates your own hydration and collagen, so skin looks smoother, dewier and better toned. This is when most people notice the “lit-from-within” quality that skin boosters are known for.

6+

Week 6 onward — your course & top-ups

Skin boosters usually work best as a short course — often 2–3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart — to build and lock in the result. Dr Azra will recommend a maintenance interval (commonly every 4–6 months) to keep your glow. You can browse the price list for course pricing.

— Do & Don’t

Aftercare Do’s & Don’ts

✓ Do
  • Leave the bumps alone — they will settle on their own within hours to about 2 days.
  • Keep skin clean and use only gentle, hydrating skincare for the first few days.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning to protect the treated skin.
  • Drink plenty of water — hydration helps the hyaluronic acid work.
  • Sleep on your back the first night if you can, to avoid pressing on the injection points.
  • Contact the clinic on WhatsApp if you have any question about how things are healing.
✗ Avoid after
  • Do not touch, rub or massage the area — you can shift the product before it settles.
  • No make-up for 12–24 hours to keep injection points clean.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam and hot showers for 24–48 hours.
  • No facials, peels, microneedling or laser for about 1–2 weeks.
  • Skip retinol, acids and exfoliating scrubs for a few days.
  • Limit alcohol and direct sun for 24–48 hours, as both increase redness and swelling.
When to contact the clinic. Small bumps at the injection points, mild redness, slight swelling and a little tenderness are all normal after skin boosters and settle within hours to a couple of days — there is nothing to worry about. However, please contact us promptly if you notice increasing or one-sided swelling, spreading redness or warmth, worsening pain after the first day, a fever, skin that turns pale, dusky or blotchy, or any bump that grows rather than shrinks. These are uncommon, but Dr Azra would rather check early. Message us anytime on WhatsApp +971 50 180 1793.
— Common Questions

Skin Boosters (Face) Aftercare FAQ

Yes — small temporary bumps or papules at the injection points are completely normal with skin boosters, and are most noticeable with Profhilo because the gel is placed as defined deposits. Most flatten within a few hours and disappear within about 2 days as the hyaluronic acid spreads and absorbs. Please do not massage or press them — just leave them alone and they settle on their own.

Keep the skin bare and clean for the first 12–24 hours, then you can gently return to make-up. You can wash your face the same evening with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser — just be gentle and pat dry rather than rubbing over the injection points.

Avoid strenuous exercise, sauna, steam rooms and very hot showers for 24–48 hours. Heat and raised blood flow can increase redness and swelling in the early hours. After a couple of days you can return to your normal routine, including the gym.

Skin boosters work gradually. Your skin builds hydration, smoothness and glow over about 3–4 weeks. For the best result they are usually done as a short course — often 2–3 sessions a few weeks apart — and then maintained every 4–6 months. See the full range of skin booster treatments and course pricing on our site.

The aftercare is very similar — keep skin clean, avoid make-up for 12–24 hours, skip heat and heavy exercise for a day or two, and use gentle skincare with SPF. If you are weighing your options, you can compare mesotherapy in Dubai or ask Dr Azra which is best for your skin at a consultation.
