HArmonyCa is not used in the lips, around the mouth, under the eyes or between the brows. Dr Azra uses HA filler in those areas instead.

What is HArmonyCa? HArmonyCa is a hybrid injectable from Allergan Aesthetics that puts calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres inside a hyaluronic acid gel. The HA gives an immediate lift you can see the day of treatment; the CaHA stimulates your own collagen over the following months, so the result firms up rather than fading straight away. It is used for the lower face — cheeks, jawline, jowls and chin — and never in the lips or under the eyes. One syringe per session with Dr Azra Vaziri in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Two Jobs, One Syringe

Most injectables either fill or stimulate. HArmonyCa was formulated to do both from the same syringe — which is why it suits a face that has started to lose its jawline rather than one that has simply lost volume.

⎯ Understanding the Treatment

What Is HArmonyCa Filler?

HArmonyCa is a hybrid injectable gel made by Allergan Aesthetics: calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, with lidocaine already mixed in. It lifts immediately like a filler and stimulates collagen like a biostimulator.

The two ingredients are not a marketing pairing — they do measurably different jobs. The HA gel is the part that restores contour the moment it is placed. The CaHA microspheres, 25–45 microns across, stay behind as a scaffold that fibroblasts colonise, laying down new type I collagen over the following weeks.

That is the difference from an HA dermal filler, which occupies space and then goes; and from a pure biostimulator like Sculptra, which builds collagen beautifully but shows you nothing on the day. HArmonyCa was designed for the patient who is not willing to wait three months to see whether anything happened.

Calcium hydroxyapatite is the same mineral family found in bone, which is why CaHA-based injectables have a long safety record in aesthetics. See the current HArmonyCa price in Dubai.

HArmonyCa is a collagen-stimulating treatment with a filler’s immediacy. Dr Azra uses it where the lower face has started to descend — softening jawline, early jowls, flattening cheeks — and pairs it with Botox, Profhilo or HA filler where those do a better job.

HArmonyCa — Key Facts at a Glance

How many syringes your plan needs is decided at your consultation — ask about your treatment plan.

⎯ The Science

How HArmonyCa Works

From your twenties you lose roughly one percent of your collagen a year. The visible consequence is not only flatness — it is laxity: the cheek descends, the jawline blurs, a prejowl shadow appears. HArmonyCa was formulated for exactly that pattern.

Injected into the subcutaneous plane, usually with a blunt cannula in threads rather than as a bolus, the HA gel immediately restores support along the treated vector. That is the part you see in the mirror before you leave.

The CaHA microspheres then integrate with the surrounding tissue. Laboratory work shows hybrid HA/CaHA integrates into tissue faster and deeper than CaHA alone, and triggers type I collagen gene expression and protein production. Over weeks, that new collagen thickens the dermis and firms the area — which is why a good HArmonyCa result keeps improving after the swelling has settled.

  1. 1 — Immediate Lift (the HA)

The hyaluronic acid gel restores support along the cheek and jawline the moment it is placed. You leave the clinic with a visible change, before any collagen has been made.

  2. 2 — Tissue Integration (the CaHA)

The calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres settle into the surrounding tissue within the first weeks, acting as a scaffold rather than a space-filler.

  3. 3 — Your Own Collagen

Fibroblasts lay down new type I collagen around the microspheres. The dermis thickens, the area firms, and the improvement in laxity is what carries the result forward.

HArmonyCa: Areas Treated

HArmonyCa is a lower-face and mid-face product. Being honest about where it should not go is as useful as listing where it should — and it is the part most clinic pages leave out.

Cheeks & Mid-Face

Structure

Restores the support that has flattened across the cheek and submalar area, lifting the tissue that has slid downward rather than simply inflating the front of the face.

The gel is firm and the skin in those areas is thin, so the product can show. Dr Azra uses HA filler there instead — and says so at the consultation rather than after.

⎯ What Actually Happens

The HArmonyCa Appointment, Step by Step

The whole visit runs 45 to 60 minutes, of which the injecting itself is about half. Nothing is placed until the plan is agreed and photographed.

  1. Assessment

Dr Azra assesses your face upright, at rest and in animation, and photographs it front, side and oblique. Laxity, not just volume, decides whether HArmonyCa is the right product.

  2. Mapping

The treatment vectors are marked on your skin — jawline, prejowl, cheek, preauricular — so you can see the plan before anything is injected.

  3. Injection

Placed in the subcutaneous plane, usually via a blunt cannula in retrograde threads. Lidocaine in the gel makes this comfortable; no boluses are used.

  4. Shaping

The area is moulded by hand at the end of each pass to keep the result smooth and even.

  5. Review at 4 weeks

You come back so the settled result can be assessed and photographed. If the plan needs more, that is decided then — not on the day of injection.

HArmonyCa Results Timeline

Individual timelines vary with age, skin quality, how much laxity was present at the start and how many syringes were used.

The first week is the part people ask about most — it is covered day by day in the HArmonyCa aftercare guide.

⎯ Honest Answer

Is HArmonyCa Right for You?

HArmonyCa is a good product badly matched to a lot of the people who ask for it by name. The two lists below are the ones Dr Azra works through at the consultation.

HArmonyCa suits you if…

Your lower face has started to descend — a softening jawline, early jowls, flattening cheeks — and you want a change you can see straight away as well as a collagen result later. Typically 35–60, with mild to moderate laxity.

Something else may suit you better if…

You want lips, under-eyes or fine lines treated; you want a fully reversible result; your laxity is severe enough that surgery or a thread lift is the honest answer; or you are only after glow and hydration, where Profhilo is a better fit.

⎯ Cost

HArmonyCa Price in Dubai

HArmonyCa at Dr Azra’s clinic is AED 2,500 for one session with one syringe, currently AED 2,200 after discount. Two sessions, one syringe each, are AED 3,500. One syringe covers a typical session; whether your plan needs more is decided at the consultation, not in advance.

⎯ Safety

Side Effects, Risks & Who Should Avoid It

The common effects are the ordinary injection ones: redness, swelling, tenderness, itching and sometimes bruising. Injection-site reactions typically settle within 24–48 hours and swelling within about a week.

Firm nodules are the specific risk people read about with CaHA products. In the published series they are uncommon — under three percent — mostly mild and temporary, and they are largely a technique problem: too superficial, too much in one place, or placed in a hyperdynamic area. Retrograde threads, no boluses, and small volumes in mobile zones are how they are avoided.

The important asymmetry with HA filler: if something needs correcting, the HA part of HArmonyCa can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, but the CaHA part cannot. That is a reason to be conservative on the first session and review at four weeks — which is exactly how Dr Azra runs it.

How Dr Azra keeps it safe

Cannula where the anatomy calls for it, retrograde threading rather than boluses, conservative first session, hand-moulding at the end of each pass, and a four-week review before anything is added.

Who should not have HArmonyCa

Pregnancy and breastfeeding, active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, known hypersensitivity to lidocaine or to the product’s components, and any active autoimmune flare — discussed case by case. See treatments in pregnancy.

⎯ Frequently Asked

HArmonyCa FAQ

What is HArmonyCa?

HArmonyCa is a hybrid injectable from Allergan Aesthetics containing calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, with lidocaine included. The HA lifts immediately; the CaHA stimulates your own collagen over the following months.

Is HArmonyCa a filler or a biostimulator?

Both, which is the point of it. The hyaluronic acid behaves like a filler and gives the same-day lift; the calcium hydroxyapatite behaves like a biostimulator and drives new collagen. That is why it is described as a hybrid rather than as one or the other.

How long does HArmonyCa last?

The lift from the HA component is the first thing to fade. The collagen effect is what carries the result: in published clinical series, improvement in facial laxity was still measurable at twelve months. Your own duration depends on age, skin quality and how much was placed — Dr Azra gives you a realistic figure at the consultation rather than a brochure number.

How many sessions of HArmonyCa do I need?

One syringe in one session covers a typical treatment. You are reviewed at four weeks, once the swelling has gone and the collagen response has started, and only then is it decided whether anything more is needed.

Does HArmonyCa hurt?

Lidocaine is already mixed into the gel, so the discomfort is mostly the entry points rather than the product itself. Where a cannula is used there is usually one entry point per area. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain.

Can HArmonyCa be dissolved?

Partly. The hyaluronic acid component can be dissolved with hyaluronidase; the calcium hydroxyapatite component cannot. That is why a conservative first session and a four-week review matter more with HArmonyCa than with a fully reversible HA filler.

What areas can HArmonyCa treat?

Cheeks and mid-face, the jawline and mandibular angle, the prejowl hollow, the chin, and the preauricular area in front of the ear. It is a lower-face and mid-face product.

Can HArmonyCa be used under the eyes or in the lips?

No. HArmonyCa is not used in the lips, the perioral area, the under-eye hollow or the glabella. The gel is firm and the skin in those areas is thin, so the product can become visible. Dr Azra uses HA filler in those areas instead.

HArmonyCa vs Radiesse — which should I choose?

Radiesse is pure calcium hydroxyapatite and is the firmer, more strongly structural of the two; it also treats the hands and, hyper-diluted, the neck. HArmonyCa carries its CaHA inside an HA gel, integrates faster, and its HA component can be dissolved. The full answer is on the HArmonyCa vs Radiesse page.

HArmonyCa vs Sculptra — what is the difference?

Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid: the strongest collagen builder of the group, but it shows you nothing on the day and needs two to three sessions. HArmonyCa gives a visible lift immediately in one session. If you are patient and want maximum collagen, Sculptra. If you want to see something now, HArmonyCa.

Is HArmonyCa safe?

The common side effects are redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising, which settle within days. Firm nodules are reported in under three percent of cases in published series and are mostly mild, temporary and technique-related. It is a prescription medical treatment and should only be injected by a licensed doctor who treats faces every day.

Is HArmonyCa FDA-approved?

HArmonyCa is CE-marked in Europe, was authorised by Health Canada in 2026, and is available in the UAE. Radiesse, by contrast, has held FDA approval in the United States since 2006. That is a difference in regulatory route, not a verdict on safety — but if FDA approval specifically matters to you, say so at the consultation and Dr Azra will tell you which product fits that requirement.

What is the downtime after HArmonyCa?

Most patients go back to normal the same day. Expect swelling and tenderness for two to three days and possible small bruises for up to a week. Plan around a week before an event. The day-by-day detail is in the aftercare guide.

How much does HArmonyCa cost in Dubai?

AED 2,500 for one session with one syringe, currently AED 2,200 after discount, at Dr Azra’s clinic. Two sessions, one syringe each, are AED 3,500. One syringe covers a typical session. The full breakdown by area is on the HArmonyCa price page.

Can HArmonyCa be combined with other treatments?

Yes, and it usually is. Botox for the dynamic lines, HA filler for lips and under-eyes where HArmonyCa cannot go, and Profhilo or skin boosters for surface quality. Clinical work on HArmonyCa specifically describes combining it with HA fillers for the lower face and neck.

Will HArmonyCa look natural?

It should look like your face with its support restored, not like a treated face. The risk of an unnatural result comes from overfilling the front of the face rather than re-tensioning the sides — which is why the plan is mapped on your skin before anything is injected.

Can men have HArmonyCa?

Yes. Jawline definition and prejowl correction are among the most common male requests, and a firm hybrid product suits the heavier male lower face well.

Can I have HArmonyCa in Abu Dhabi?

Yes. Dr Azra treats at Louvre Medical Clinic in Abu Dhabi on Wednesdays, and at Prof Sakla Spanish Eye Clinic on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai during the week. The same treatment is available at both.
