Profhilo vs Rejuran
Profhilo and Rejuran are two of the most popular skin quality treatments in aesthetic medicine — but they work through completely different biological mechanisms. Patients ask about this from both directions — Rejuran vs Profhilo just as often as Profhilo vs Rejuran — and it is the same comparison either way. This guide explains when each is the right choice and why Dr Azra often combines them for optimal results.

Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid bio-remodeller — it hydrates, tightens, and stimulates collagen through HA spreading beneath the skin. Rejuran is a salmon DNA (PDRN) skin healer — it repairs damaged cells at the DNA level and reduces inflammation. Profhilo is better for laxity and hydration. Rejuran is better for scarring, dark circles, and damaged skin. They can be combined for comprehensive rejuvenation.
Profhilo vs Rejuran at a Glance
When to Choose Profhilo
Profhilo is the better first choice when your primary concern is skin laxity, loss of firmness, or overall dehydration. It contains 64mg of hybrid hyaluronic acid that spreads beneath the skin to stimulate four types of collagen and elastin. The result is visibly tighter, more hydrated, and more luminous skin.
Profhilo requires only 2 sessions (vs 3–4 for Rejuran), has a highly predictable response, and is clinically proven for the face, neck, hands, and décolletage. It is Dr Azra’s go-to for patients aged 30–50 whose primary complaint is “my skin doesn’t look as firm or fresh as it used to.” For pricing, see the Profhilo pricing page.
When to Choose Rejuran Healer
Rejuran is the better choice when your skin needs repair rather than just hydration. PDRN works through the DNA salvage pathway — providing nucleotides that damaged cells need to reconstruct their DNA. It also activates adenosine A2A receptors for anti-inflammatory effects, making it excellent for sensitised, sun-damaged, or post-inflammatory skin.
Choose Rejuran for acne scarring, dark circles, enlarged pores, chronic redness, sun-damaged skin, or when surface treatments like skin boosters haven’t delivered enough improvement. Rejuran I (Eye) is specifically formulated for the delicate periorbital area. For more on the science, read what is PDRN and what are polynucleotides.
Dr Azra’s Recommendation
In Dr Azra’s clinical practice, Profhilo and Rejuran are used for different skin concerns — neither is universally better.
Profhilo is mainly used for hydration, glow, and mild firmness, while Rejuran focuses on skin repair, texture improvement, and inflammation.
For many patients in Dubai — especially over the age of 30–35 — a combination approach may be recommended depending on skin condition.
A common protocol is starting with Profhilo (2 sessions) for visible hydration and tightening, followed by Rejuran (3–4 sessions) for deeper cellular repair.
The exact sequence is determined during consultation based on your skin assessment.
If You Can Only Do One Course This Year
Most patients ask this eventually, because both are a course rather than a single visit. The honest answer depends on what you see in the mirror, not on which treatment is newer.
Choose Profhilo
When the change you notice is lost firmness and bounce — skin looks flatter in photographs, foundation sits less well, and it feels drier than it used to. Two sessions give a predictable, visible result, which matters when you have one course to spend.
Choose Rejuran
When the change is damage rather than slackness — post-acne marks, a crepey under-eye, persistent redness, or skin that has taken years of sun. Repair takes longer to show, but it addresses something hydration alone will not move.
If both descriptions fit, start with Profhilo. Hydrated, better-supported skin responds more predictably to repair work afterwards, which is why the combination is usually sequenced in that order rather than the reverse.
When Neither Is the Right Answer
Both treatments improve skin quality. Neither lifts tissue that has descended, and neither fills volume that has been lost — so if your main concern is a heavy jawline, hollow cheeks or deep folds, a bio-remodeller will disappoint you no matter how many sessions you buy. That is filler, biostimulator or thread territory, and your assessment should say so plainly.
Both are also postponed rather than rushed in a few situations: an active skin infection or inflamed breakout at the injection site, recent aggressive resurfacing that has not settled, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and any known sensitivity to the product itself. Rejuran is salmon-derived, so a fish allergy is a specific and relevant question your practitioner should ask before, not after, you book.
And if you have never had an injectable, neither of these is the treatment to start with two weeks before a wedding. Both cause small bumps that settle within 24 to 48 hours — predictable, but not something to discover for the first time on a deadline.
